中国HUAWEI Technologiesが、2018年10月16日に新モデル・スマートフォン「HUAWEI Mate 20」シリーズの発表を予告。性能が強化された新プロセッサー「Kirin 980」の搭載を予定しています。
HUAWEI Mate 20シリーズ、Kirin 980を採用へ
HUAWEIから新モデルのスマートフォン「Mate 20」シリーズが予告。日本でもHUAWEI Mate 10 ProがSIMフリー版で発売されていますが、20シリーズはMateラインの新機種です。

プロセッサーには新発表された「Kirin 980」を搭載予定。7nm製造プロセスのSoCで、CPUはCortex-A76ベースのコアを初採用、GPUはMali-G76。

Kirin 980は現行モデルのSoCと比較して20%の高速化、40%の電力効率化をアピールしており、またCPUパワー、CPU省電力性能、Wi-Fi速度、モバイルデータ通信、AI性能、GPU Turboによるゲーミング体験など、いくつかの項目でSnapdragon 845よりも優っている点を主張しています。

HUAWEI Mate 20 LiteではKirin 710の搭載が発表されているので、Kirin 980を採用するのはHUAWEI Mate 20もしくはMate 20 Proとなる見込み。またKirin 980は中国で登場すると予想されるHonor Magic 2にも採用される予定です。
